Sociology Department Day 2025
Come and join us for an exciting and enriching departmental day dedicated to social engagement, intellectual stimulation, celebrations, and lots of fun!
All students, staff, alumni, external examinators and other friends of the department are most welcome.
Do not miss this year’s Department Day, we are delighted to celebrate our newly graduated candidates, to honour the annual master’s thesis award (Årets Specialepris 2025), Best Lecturer of the Year Award, and to provide an opportunity for informal networking.
We are also thrilled to welcome Professor John Levi Martin as our keynote speaker. Martin is the Florence Borchert Bartling Distinguished Service Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Chicago. He is one of today’s most original and influential sociologists, known for his pioneering contributions to social theory, culture, and networks. Martin is the author of several highly acclaimed books, including Social Structures (2009), The Explanation of Social Action (second edition, 2021), as well as Thinking Through Theory (2015), Thinking Through Methods (2017), and Thinking Through Statistics (2018). His most recent book is The True, the Good and the Beautiful (2024). Martin also serves as editor of the American Journal of Sociology.
