My Ph.D. project investigates how political subjectivities emerge in Mexicans’ solidarity responses or resistance to migrant caravans and other forms of migration through Mexico. Based on ethnographic fieldwork conducted at three different locations along the migration route in Mexico, the study illustrates how Mexican residents and activists seek to influence the state’s policies and practices concerning transit migration. They achieve this by performing political subjectivities that embody moral virtues around citizenship, neighborly love, and lawfulness.

The Ph.D. project is presented in a dissertation titled "Politics of Passage – Political subjectivity and civic responses to transit migration in Mexico," submitted on November 4, 2023.
