I am currently leading an EU-funded research project on the political choices of individuals.

The 21st century is experiencing a growth of political movements and parties where concerns about national security and culture play a central role. This project aims to complement research into the socio-economic contexts and political rhetoric that has accompanied these political changes by focusing on the narratives, motives and perceptions of contemporary voters. Specifically, this project seeks to understand the extent to which growing electoral support for parties that focus on national security and cultural integrity stems from the awakening of pre-existing sympathies or the making of new supporters as changing socio-economic contexts lead individuals to focus on new concerns.I utilize in-depth interviews with voters in two consequentially distinct national contexts (Poland and Denmark) to understand how the life histories of voters intersect with their socio-economic positions, cultural frameworks and national histories to shape when and how individuals adopt or change political ideologies, and when and how individuals turn their views into political action.
